Prime Minister Tells Hero Doctor, “We Learn from the Rebbe”

A ministerial legislative committee has agreed to a government bill to pay the legal expenses of Dr. Yehuda David, who fought against the “Muhammad al-Dura affair,” which gave Chabad a very bad name.

This morning, at the opening of today’s government meeting, the prime minister said, “I spoke to Israeli hero Dr. Yehuda David several minutes ago. Dr. David moved to Israel, joined the IDF, and his children serve in the IDF. As a reservist, he was awarded a medal in the Second Lebanon War, when he saved a wounded man under fire. He didn’t only fight on a military battlefield, but also in the PR wars-the struggle for truth.

“He went to shoot down the lies of the Muhammad al-Dura slander. The story of Muhammad al-Dura, this libel, caused more damage to the State of Israel than any other story in recent years, than any other falsehood, and he went out to torpedo this lie by speaking the truth.

“For five years, he waged a formidable legal battle, and we earlier decided before knowing the result that the government should cover his legal costs. Last week, it was announced that he won. His victory is not a personal victory. It is a victory for justice and truth.”

In a personal meeting with Dr. David, the prime minister said, “It is definitely a victory over a sea of lies, but it’s what the Lubavitcher Rebbe said – kindle a single candle in the darkness and you see it … the pure light … that can be seen from a distance.” VIDEO CLIP HERE
