This week, a Tubishvat party was held for the elderly and lone Holocaust survivors in Lod. Among those present were the director of the city’s finance committee Meir Nitzan, head of the Council of Holocaust Survivors Gidel Davidson, the coordinator for culture and absorption Maya Roitbol, and the director of the Yad b’Yad chessed organization, Rabbi Yaakov Glauberman.

Around 80 survivors of the Holocaust enjoyed some delicious fruits and a klezmer concert at the soup kitchen run by Yad b’Yad.

Mr. Nitzan spoke about the bravery of the survivors, as partisans and as fighters who then rebuilt their lives in Israel. Afterwards, the mayor gave bouquets of flowers to nine survivors whose birthdays fell on that day.

Rabbi Glauberman spoke about the importance of the day. He also thanked Mrs. Roitbol for the many activities that she organizes in conjunction with Lod’s social services.
