Stormy Weather Hits Lod … and Kfar Chabad

Israel’s recent stormy weather has not spared the city of Lod, which is also suffering from the results of years of municipal neglect.

Due to heavy rainfall, the yard of the Chabad Talmud Torah was severely flooded to the extent it almost resembled a swimming pool. For this reason, there were no lessons on Friday and the PTA is thinking of boycotting the Talmud Torah for even longer.

Neighborhood councilman Reb Chaim Galinsky reported:

“The neighborhood council has told the city several times about the dangerous situation, and the city has promised to carry out repairs. But we won’t wait around until the city finally decides to fix the damage, and we are protesting with the parents to the extent of boycotting lessons until the neglect is finally repaired.”

Elsewhere in Lod, a large tree fell in the yard of the girls’ kindergarten in Shikkun Chabad, and it collapsed on top of the sandbox. This caused it to hit a student in Kitah Vav of the Chabad Talmud Torah on the back. He was immediately taken to the hospital in a light to moderate condition.

In further news, the fire brigade and rescue services were called to a house in Kfar Chabad when a tree fell on it as a result of strong winds.
